There are two different questions about money and they get confused constantly. One is accounting: reconciling the bank, closing the month, filing taxes — and that is what accounting software is for. The other is operational: what did we bill, what have we not collected, what do we owe, and who spent that. Delorean answers the second one, in the same place where the work that generated it happened.
| QuickBooks | Delorean | |
|---|---|---|
| Income and expenses | Complete, with a chart of accounts | One model: anything without a settled date is a receivable or a payable |
| Expense claims | Yes, usually with an add-on | Any team member uploads it with a photo of the receipt |
| Bank reconciliation | Yes, importing statements | Not yet — a real gap and it is on the roadmap |
| Tax and filing | Yes, that is the core of it | No. This is not accounting software and does not pretend to be |
| Reports | P&L, balance sheet, cash flow | Simpler: what is coming in, what is going out, what is late |
| Connection to the work | The invoice is a document with no context | The invoice belongs to a project, a client and a quote |
| For whom | You and your accountant | The people who run the company day to day |
Written from each product's public documentation. They are mature tools and this page says where they are still better. No prices here: they change on their own and the page would end up lying without anyone touching it.
No, and it should not. It replaces the spreadsheet where you track what is owed to you and what you owe.
Knowing today what came in, what went out, what has not been collected and what is about to be due — attached to the client and the project that produced it.
Anyone on the team uploads the expense with a photo of the receipt, and it goes into the same accounts as everything else.
Not yet. Importing a CSV and reconciling is on the roadmap.
No. Close and the accountant export are pending.
They appear in the company calendar. An active alert before the date is on the roadmap.
Yes, and which project and quote it came from.
The amounts are recorded as loaded. If your accounting is multi-currency, that belongs in accounting software.
Not yet. For a franchise with several locations, that is a genuine gap today.
Yes, and most companies should: Delorean for the operational side and your accountant's software for the accounting.
